World Pool Championship Heads to Bahrain in 2027

Bahrain to Host the 2027 World Pool Championship with a $1 Million Prize Fund

The World Pool Championship is set to enter a new chapter in 2027, with Bahrain announced as the host nation for one of professional nine-ball's most prestigious events.

Scheduled for April 5–10, 2027, the championship will take place at Exhibition World Bahrain. The event is expected to feature 128 of the world's best players competing for a total prize fund of $1 million.

The move marks the first time Bahrain will host the World Pool Championship. The agreement between Matchroom Pool and the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority is part of a multi-year partnership intended to expand the international reach of professional pool.

Defending champion Carlo Biado of the Philippines will lead the field. Biado won his second world title in 2025 after defeating Fedor Gorst 15–13 in a dramatic final. He will be aiming to add another world championship to his record in Bahrain.

Other major names expected to compete include 2024 champion Fedor Gorst, 2023 champion Francisco Sánchez Ruiz and 2022 champion Shane Van Boening.

The championship is expected to feature 223 matches over six days, with extensive television and streaming coverage for international audiences.

Beyond the competition itself, the event could help strengthen the sport's presence in the Middle East. The partnership also includes ambitions to support local player development, coaching and opportunities for emerging talent in Bahrain.

For players, the championship represents more than a title. It is a chance to compete on the biggest stage in nine-ball, where precision, positional play, break consistency and mental resilience can determine the outcome.

With a new host venue and a million-dollar prize fund, the 2027 World Pool Championship is already shaping up to be a major event on the international billiards calendar.
